On November 26, 2022, the first meeting of the Spanish Language Club was held, organized by Varvara N. Terentieva, STOUH alumna and current lecturer, and the International Projects Department.
On November 24, 2022, a panel on Reception of the Byzantine Heritage in the History of Christianity: Towards the 30th Anniversary of Protopresbyter John Meyendorff, was held as part of of the international conference Byzantine Heritage in the History of Christianity: Towards the Anniversary of the Passing of John Meyendorff.
Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox University of the Humanities received greetings on its 30th anniversary from Monsignor Dr. Francesco Braschi, Director of the Slavic Studies Class of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana (Milan, Italy). This very year, our university also celebrates the tenth anniversary of its fruitful cooperation with the Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
Students from Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox University of the Humanities (STOUH) contributed to the organization of the international “Serbian Solace for the Russian Heart” festival, which was held at the University from October 18–28. They creatively developed materials concerning the art-documentary exhibition “Serbian Holy Places: Destroyed and Rebuilt” and guided festival guests through it. Here, they share their impressions and experiences, and speak about the Orthodox Serbian people who have become close to their hearts.
As part of the International Festival “Serbian Solace for the Russian Heart”, open online lectures were given to STOUH students by two church-cultural figures from Serbia: the philologist and translator Prof. Ksenija Končarević, and the artist, icon-painter, and teacher Prof. Todor Mitrović.
As part of STOUH’s International “Serbian Solace for the Russian Heart” festival, held from October 18-28, there were open film screenings and meetings with Bishop Jovan Ćulibrk of Pakrac and Slavonia and Priest Nenad Ilić.
On October 20, 2022, the city of Grodno, Belarus, hosted an international academic conference titled “Light of the Land of Grodno”, dedicated to the 1030th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Belarus and the 30th anniversary of the revival of the Diocese of Grodno.
On October 18, 2022, the international festival “Serbian Solace for the Russian Heart” was opened at Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox University of the Humanities, timed to coincide with the University’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
On October 14, 2022, on the premises of the “Tabor” venue, a Festival partner site, there was a grand opening of the photo exhibition of the artist, iconographer, and photographer Valery Blizniuk about the great cultural and historical heritage of Kosovo and Metohija (this region is often called Kosmet).
The International Congresses of Byzantine Studies, which have been held for almost a century, are one of the most influential and prestigious humanities forums in the world. It is the world’s largest scholarly event on the history and culture of the Byzantine Empire.
Fr om February to June 2022, Marinko Simič attended classes at STOUH’s and successfully passed his final exams. Marinko is a student of Russian at Belgrade University, wh ere the language is taught by a graduate of St. Tikhon’s University.
From May 7 to June 30, Russian and Italian students met online and analyzed fiction texts by contemporary Russian authors.
