General information

Education at the Faculty of History and Philology is carried out in accordance with the state standard for higher professional education (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate), in three areas: History, Philology, Education.

Students of History get a fundamental academic education; they learn how to analyze information professionally and master diverse theological and church-historical disciplines.

Students of Philology intensively study modern (English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Serbian, Polish) as well as ancient languages (Church Slavonic, Ancient Greek, Latin, Gothic), the history of Russian and foreign literature, theory and practice of translation and other disciplines.

Students of Education receive training in primary education, religious pedagogical culture, and pedagogical expertise.

There are 5 departments in the Faculty:

·         Department of Russian History

·         Department of Teacher Training 

·         Department of Romance and Germanic Philology

·         Department of Slavic Philology

·         Department of World History

The Faculty of History and Philology regularly organizes open academic events: a Medieval Studies Seminar [ru] supported by the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology as well as a joint academic seminar with the Department of Russian History and the State Historical Museum.

In all fields of study, student internships are offered that allow students to consolidate and expand their knowledge gained during their studies at the university.
